Leo’s travel journal and other juicy bits…

I wrote to the Indonesian authorities on the haze issue which has been clouding our vision and, more recently their brains…

Drs.H. Muhammad Jusuf Kalla mentioned this to the press on Sunday, 15 October 2006.

“The oxygen produced by the forests of Kalimantan and Sumatra has benefited Malaysia,” Kalla said in a speech before a congress of Hindu followers. “If they want the benefit, sometimes, when something bad happens, they shouldn’t feel bothered. “

For your information, the people of Malaysia and Singapore do not need your forests to produce oxygen and such. Such unnecessary remarks by your honourable Vice Presidents only reflects your nation’s commitment and efforts to curb the haze, which is a yearly event for us here.

Your honourable Vice President is obviously oblivious to the level of pollution that has been generated by your country’s forest fires which cost Malaysia and Singapore millions of unseen “dollars” in health bills each year.

Please buck up your country’s administration or elect someone new who can do the job.

You may also remember this post some time back on the same issue posted in August last year…

  1. Hmmm…the haze has gotten into everyone’s head. Brain matter all fuzzy. That contributes to the bull and crap from their mouths. On another matter, I do like all the coffee you mentioned. Unfortunately, not many know how to make good coffee with it. Their coffee shots suck. Illy is to commercialized (Until the ppl at cafes dont know how to make an excellent cuppa).
